Adobe Blasts into the Future with Photoshop CS3
The much-heralded, long-awaited CS3 version of Adobe's celebrated Photoshop arrives in the New Year with features that include a dazzling new user interface. The new filter set and 3D object importation capabilities have impressed the Beta testers, and evaluation copies are already available for downloading.

The Macintosh version has been optimized to fly at high speed and is said to scream when operated on Power PC and Intel-chip Mac systems. The new Photoshop CS3 single-column toolbar interface offers flexible, collapsible tool palates and a device library to help designers preview the appearance of their images for phones and Blackberries. Adobe plans to eventually be release an optional advanced version of Photoshop CS3 with advanced video and scientific rendering tools.

Photoshop CS3's New Smart Filters
One of the key advancements in Photoshop CS3's tools are improved Smart Filters that enable the user to apply multiple filters to an image or layers and undo them later without destroying the original. There's also a new "quick select" tool that offers powerful control over slices and edges.

Palates are designed to fit neatly in a region without cluttering up your workspace. Auto-aligning and auto-blending tools will really help you piece elements together from original sources. And, the new clone and healing capabilities will appeal to those who want to examine the clone source in detail before using it on a new area.

You can try the beta if you already have a licensed version of Photoshop CS2. You just might get excited the first time you run it.
