Graphic Design TrendsThe world of opportunity has been expanding for graphic designers, with the explosion of the internet over the last decade, the increased use of graphic design in film and television, and the industries of print and advertising remaining steadfast. Web and animation design are some of the best opportunities for graphic designers these days, however.Competitions are a good place to observe graphic design trends. And most of the recent winners of these competitions have been entries from design firms themselves. The corporate design world, although a trend can be seen toward cleaner, fresher designs, does lag behind in this area. Color plays a large part in graphic design trends, and brown has been the color of the hour for quite some time. Paired with lighter shades, like cream, blue, and pink, brown is used on everything from stationery to restaurant design. Bringing the theatrical or surrealistic quality to photography is another graphic design trend. And illustration is back with a vengeance; many television commercials, internet ads, and print advertising rely heavily on illustration at the moment. Graphic design trends in typography focus on clean, very legible fonts that range from modern to classic. This is one of the most observable trends in the industry right now, and can be seen in almost every sector. In web design, simple, centered layouts are popular, as are 3D effects and animation. Most artists building their careers over the coming years will be the leaders in these graphic design trends, taking the industry and pulling it forward. As so many different industries are affected by graphic design, it is a fun phenomenon to watch. Schools are listed in alphabetical order by state then city.
